Volunteer Melbourne for Your Vacation



Volunteer with Zoos Victoria provides exciting opportunities in many areas of the Zoo’s operations including:

    assisting visitors with information
    providing guided tours
    horticulture
    fundraising
    assisting with school holiday programs
    working behind the scenes to create animal enrichment items.

Things you need to know:

    Volunteer with Zoos Victoria does not involve animal keeping duties
    Volunteer do not receive preference for paid positions
    Volunteer cannot commence their duties until they have satisfactorily completed the required training
    We supply a uniform
    Depending on the task or role there may be a minimum level of commitment required (eg. once a fortnight)

Visitor Engagement Volunteer – recruitment closed

Visitor Engagement Volunteer will engage with visitors to help fight extinction. They will be advocates for our conservation campaigns, they will foster connections between our visitors and wildlife through animal-based encounters, and lead activities and talks in award-winning precincts such as Trail of the Elephants, Gorilla Rainforest and Wild Sea.

Volunteer Melbourne Visitor Hosts are part of the face of Melbourne Zoo, helping visitors get the most out of their visit through excellent customer service and helping visitors fight extinction by advocating for our conservation campaigns.

Learning Experiences Volunteer – recruitment closed

Learning Experiences Volunteer support zoo educators to deliver fun learning programs for young people aged 5-18 years. They will foster connections with wildlife, develop enduring understandings and advocate for our conservation campaigns through facilitating engaging and educational activities.

Facilitated Play Volunteer Melbourne – recruitment closed

Facilitated Play Volunteer help inspire connections with wildlife and wild places in Growing Wild and Keeper Kids, two play-based learning zones for 3-8 year olds - the first of its kind in Australia.
